Another way to explore the wildlife of Kaziranga National Park is by going on a gypsy safari. A gypsy safari in Kaziranga takes place on a four-wheeler that has an open roof. If we compare gypsy safari and elephant safari then gypsy safari is faster and easier to ride. Many people make Kaziranga online safari bookings to enjoy a gypsy ride inside this wild area. Both wildlife lovers and adventurous travelers like going on gypsy rides because they cover a lot of ground in a short time.

You have to take a permit before going on a ride and it is advised that you should get that in advance. During the gypsy safari in Kaziranga National Park, you can only go on specific paths that are decided by the forest officials of this area. It happens in different zones and all of them have different routes.

You can enjoy this ride in the morning and evening and it will take around 2 to 3 hours to explore the area of the Kaziranga. Both timing offers different chances to see wildlife in their natural habitat.

Going on an Elephant Safari in Kaziranga National Park is a great way to see the beautiful forests. If you choose this ride for your Kaziranga Safari Booking then you will get a chance to sit on the back of an elephant, around 9 feet above the ground. People say that tourism in Kaziranga National Park is incomplete without riding an elephant. This safari is a special treat for travelers because it lets you move around freely in the open areas. This ride is better than a gypsy safari in Kaziranga because you will explore the jungle without the disturbing sound of gypsy safari.

Kaziranga National Park is famous for having many one-horned rhinos, dense forests, and tall grass called elephant grass. The best way to see all the different animals in Kaziranga is by riding on an elephant's back. Through this safari, you can enjoy the scenery and see animals in their natural habitat without disturbing them.

Kaziranga elephant safari happens only during the early morning hours and it will take around 1 or 1 & ½ hours to explore the area. During the morning safari, you get to go through thick forests, cross rivers, and follow rough trails, which is exciting for people who love adventure.

Safari Ride and Zone is given as per subject to availability and Govt direction.

Jeep Safari or Elephant Safari once booked is non-refundable.

In case Elephant or Jeep safari is not booked due to technical error or non-availability of seat, entire amount would be refund.

For Jeep Safari or Elephant Safari please be at the safari point at sharp time provided by safari management team as per govt. rules. Any delay would be treated as No Show and no refund would be made.

Jeep Safari Pick up / drop facility is provided to the tourists from the hotel at an additional cost.

Vehicle and their charges (Jeep, Driver, Entry Fee, Road tax) are included in the Safari charges.

The full name, age, sex of each visitor as printed same on the identity cards to be provided.

Please carry the Original ID card submitted during online booking.

Passport details are mandatory for making reservation of foreigner tourists.

Kaziranga National Park: Entry Formalities

Kaziranga National Park comes under the tiger reserve area and thus fully protected and restricted area as per the wildlife rules and regulations. Enter to any area of the park Sanctuary without appropriate permission is strictly prohibited. All visitors to Kaziranga Park are required an entry permit before visiting the park. Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari are two safari that are allowed for which official permits are issued. Both the safaris are the day visit safari for the limited hours and organized on the fix shift timings.

Things Not to Do in Kaziranga National Park

Firearms, weapons, bows & arrows any sharp weapons, steels, matchbox and crackers are strictly prohibited inside the National Park.

Do not blow horn inside the park.

Do not feed wild animals / birds / reptiles.

Do not shout or whistle inside the park.

The best time to visit Kaziranga National Park is from November to April. The park remains open from November to end of April each year. The months of February and March are particularly good for wildlife sightings as the grass is shorter and animals are more visible.

Jeep Safari: Covers larger areas, faster movement, allows photography from different angles, and can accommodate up to 6 persons. Duration is typically 2 hours.

Elephant Safari: Provides closer wildlife encounters, especially with rhinos, moves through dense grasslands, and offers a unique traditional experience. Duration is typically 1 hour with maximum 4 persons per elephant.

You can book safari tickets online through the official Kaziranga National Park website or authorized tour operators. Advance booking is highly recommended, especially during peak season (December to March). For elephant safari, slots are decided one day prior and advance booking is essential due to limited availability.

Kaziranga National Park has four main safari zones:

  • Kohora (Central Range): High wildlife density, most popular zone
  • Bagori (Western Range): Known as rhino capital, best for elephant safari
  • Agaratoli (Eastern Range): Rich birdlife and water bodies
  • Burapahar (Ghorakati Range): Hilly terrain with diverse flora and fauna

For Indian tourists: Valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhar card, driving license, passport, or voter ID)

For foreign tourists: Passport details are mandatory. You must carry the original passport during the safari for verification.
